Website design and custom software development
Your website should make it easy for customers to understand your business, take action and return. Your software should make everyday work simpler. We design and develop both around the people who use them.
Built around your goals and workflows
Lanka OpenSoft creates business websites, e-commerce stores, publishing platforms and custom applications with content management systems that put your team in control. We start with your goals and workflows, then select the architecture and features that fit your budget, scale and long-term plans.
Websites and applications built for your business
Business websites and landing pages
Present your services clearly through responsive layouts, focused enquiry journeys, accessible navigation and fast-loading content. Connect contact forms, click-to-call actions, WhatsApp enquiries, maps and appointment requests where they add value.
E-commerce and online marketplaces
Create shopping experiences with product catalogues, variations, search filters, inventory workflows, checkout and order tracking. Payment, delivery, multi-vendor and recurring billing integrations can be included according to your operating model and provider availability.
News and media platforms
Give editorial teams a CMS designed for publishing speed and control. Features can include sections and tags, author profiles, draft approvals, scheduled publishing, live updates, media libraries, advertising placements, subscriptions and paywalls. Caching and traffic planning help prepare for busy news periods.
Custom business software
Replace repetitive manual work with customer portals, booking systems, approval workflows, dashboards and connected databases. We design integrations with your CRM, accounting tools and other business systems to reduce duplicate entry and improve visibility.
Subscription and hospitality solutions
Support memberships, newspaper subscriptions and e-paper distribution, or launch digital menus, QR menus and online ordering experiences. WhatsApp delivery workflows depend on the approved messaging setup, customer consent and the selected provider.
Designed for your audience
Projects can include English, Sinhala, Tamil or Arabic content structures, with right-to-left layouts for Arabic and suitable date, currency and contact formats. Language production, market-specific payment options and integrations are agreed during discovery.
A CMS your team can use confidently
Update pages, publish articles and manage products without depending on a developer for every change. We can build a custom CMS for specialist workflows, configure an established CMS such as WordPress, or use a headless CMS when content must serve several digital channels.
- Content editingReusable page sections, rich text, image management, preview and scheduled publishing.
- Publishing controlUser roles, approval stages, revision history and activity records.
- Search managementEditable page titles, descriptions, URLs, redirects and image alternative text.
- Connected operationsForms, enquiries, exports, dashboards and integrations suited to your workflow.

Modern technology, selected for the task
Our proposed development toolkit includes React and Next.js for interactive websites; TypeScript for maintainable application code; Node.js or Laravel for back-end services; and MySQL or PostgreSQL for structured data. We select supported releases and compatible components for each project.
Optional AI features can support assisted content drafting, document search and customer enquiries, with defined data permissions and human review where appropriate.
- React and Next.jsComponent-based interfaces with server rendering or static generation. Rendering and caching choices depend on the page and the workload.
- TypeScriptMaintainable application code for projects that will be extended over time.
- Node.js and LaravelBack-end services, chosen against your hosting, team and integration requirements.
- MySQL and PostgreSQLStructured data on a supported release, with minor updates maintained.
- REST APIs and webhooksConnections between your platform, internal systems and third-party providers.
- Caching and deliveryBackground jobs, image optimisation and content delivery networks help maintain performance as usage increases.
- Git and CI/CDGit records source-code changes and review. CI/CD pipelines automate agreed build, test and deployment tasks. They serve different purposes.
How we choose versions
Technology references were checked on 22 September 2026. Final versions are confirmed against vendor support and integration requirements when a project begins.
- Node.js — use an actively supported LTS line in production. Node.js 24 is the current LTS line in the release information reviewed; a newer Current release is not automatically the right production choice.
- Laravel 13 — a current framework option for PHP applications, requiring PHP 8.3 or later within its supported range. Hosting and package compatibility are confirmed before adoption.
- MySQL — use a supported LTS line such as MySQL 8.4, subject to compatibility and provider support.
- PostgreSQL — choose a supported major version and maintain minor updates. Each major release is supported for five years.
Reference: React versions, Next.js App Router, Node.js releases.
Quality built into delivery
Responsive layouts, keyboard navigation, readable typography and usable forms guide the design. Security work can include role-based access, multi-factor authentication, input validation, secure sessions, encrypted connections and dependency checks. Performance and accessibility targets are agreed and tested against the project scope.
Git records source-code changes. CI/CD automates agreed testing and deployment steps, with separate staging and production environments and a planned rollback process. Functional testing and client acceptance checks take place before launch.
From discovery to ongoing improvement
We define requirements and success measures, map the user journey, develop the approved design, test key workflows and coordinate launch. Handover includes agreed documentation and CMS training. Maintenance can cover software updates, monitoring, fixes and further development under a separate support scope.
Discovery
Requirements, success measures and the workflows the platform has to support.
Journey and design
The user journey mapped, then the approved design produced for build.
Development
The agreed scope built, with source history in Git and automated build and test steps.
Testing
Key workflows tested functionally, with client acceptance checks before release.
Launch
Coordinated release from staging to production, with a planned rollback process.
Handover
Agreed documentation and CMS training so your team can work independently.
Maintenance
Updates, monitoring, fixes and further development under a separate support scope.
Common questions
Yes. We can assess the current platform, content and integrations, then recommend a targeted upgrade, migration or rebuild.
Yes. We configure editing permissions and provide training for the agreed CMS functions.
The estimate depends on functionality, content, integrations and support requirements. You receive a defined scope and delivery milestones before development begins.
